Hello evryone:

This is my second fly fishing season in Northwest, I am still learning waters around here.
I have to say that since I joined this "news group" I gained lot of great  info's and tips , Thanks for all the inputs.

Lat year I got to try for the Steelhed on my 5th trip to Skykomish , I hooked my first fish 28" long very strong and bright silver male.

That first fish changed my fishing live forever, now I fish more and more for this super powerfull fish.
In last 2 months I showed 4 Steelhead my flies and they like them.

Last trip to Stilly, I managed to lnd two nice  rainbow colors summer runs steelheads one 20" and other 22" long and nice 18" Dolly Varden.

Two weeks ago I went to Stilly fished " Fortston hole in very fast and high water , I hooked 8 Silver's only reel in two of them nice in black/red colors very large around 29" lenght, they sure are strong fish and they liked my purply spey fly.

My best trip was last thursday ( my day off ) went back to Skaykomish river near Gold Bar water was running great, I hooked very nice Dolly Varden 20 " long and very round like shape of the football!

later I got two more dolly's small ones, and than I was fishing nice slow pool with orange streamer I tied night before, I was casting across with swing fly style , and than I got light tug on my tip of the rod, well I tought it must be onother dolly. only this time after I set the hook home , I felt very heavy pull.

The fish started to head for the cover to the fast water , it stop for second ....and than took of again, now I started to worry I never wear gloves before ( I lived in Texas for 10 years to hot for gloves) so try to palm the reel was a challange .

I managed to reel some line This big very powerfull Steelhead broke the surface of the water twice and and on the way down , for split second I lost the conection , I thought I lost him I felt slack on the line, but in split seconds I felt him again man tha's got to be the greatest feeling to regain contact with a fish .

After good 5 minutes I welcomed big bright 28"long Sunmmer Run fish , I think?   I took photos and fish went back to the river. Fish was on right after 4 hrs of rain , I had 4 more hook ups I think they could been steelhead , it felt the same.

So far it was my largest Steelhead this fall, I would love tofind out how much fish ( 28" ) would weigh 6-10lb?

Thanks again for all the input on diferent topics , It makes fishing more fun, also Jimmie Girganoff my working buddy and great friend who give me all kind off tips on where and how to fish for steelhead.

Have great fishing.
