My truck is a Chevy shortbed, regular cab.  It can turn around on deadend logging roads, and with a roll-top bed cover, prying eyes are kept at bay.  The full time 4 wheel drive is a boon in the slushy snow we get hear and going over the pass.  The V8 has the power to tow my boat.  The down side is the cab has no space in back of the seats like an extended cab would.  On the other hand, it has a more comfortable ride than the Toyota I used to have and gets mileage just as good, if not better.   I would probably go with a canopy and rack, in fact, I might do that next spring.  All it needs now is the patina that comes with usage and time.  I'd just as soon forego the replay of the experiences I had with my old beater Ford wagon that required me to stop for oil just going between Tacoma and Seattle.
