An Orvis Hatch ?! Here we go with the negative stereotypes again. Wonder why your acquaintance didn't use the names Sage or Simms to suggest the same negative association? After all, everybody knows that only rich yuppies can afford that pricey stuff. Like Sage and Simms, Orvis stuff also costs more than other brands and it's darn well worth it. I have an excellent Orvis rain jacket that cost $100 less than a comparable Simms. I enjoyed fishing with (and still regret selling) a wonderful Orvis Silver Label 4wt rod. Just because I use Orvis gear (along with Sage and Simms) doesn't mean I'm rich, insensitive, or trying to 'buy my way into the sport.' Mike's exactly right: we don't distinguish between white, black or Asian fishermen. Let's leave the rest of the stereotypes out of future posts. Kent Lufkin
