Ray,

Ray

The action is seen on the dead drift, not when it is being moved through
the water at a faster speed than the current. The action can be
accentuated by tying a chenille (try cactus chenille) salmon egg sized
bump in the thorax area of the fly and then tie the marabou in front of
that. This holds the marabou away from the hook preventing its
adherence (or wrapping) to the hook shank, and enhances the action.
