Deschutes is a good suggestion. We've gotten some excellent fishing there about this time of year. Might be a bit more snow this season so I don't know how that could affect things. There is a campground right in Maupin next to the river. If you go, take your longjohns for the nights. Some of the Mason County lakes are probably fishing OK by now. Cady, Tee and others. There are a lot of campgrounds around Hood Canal. Heard that cutthroat were cruising in Dewatto Bay prior to heading into the Canal. You can buy some fresh oysters at the roadside near Lilliwap for dinner. I am an avid backpacker and hiker. I have 5-8wt rods, a float tube, and a 10ft pram. I would rather fish creeks or rivers but also like stillwater fishing. I enjoy winter-spring camping and am planning on making it a weekend trip. I have fished Rocky Ford and the nunally lake chain before and will probably go that route again but thought that I would try this and see what other members of the board would suggest. I am active duty military (Fort Lewis) and just got back from a deployment and am really looking forward to wetting a line again. I basically missed the whole steelhead season so a little compassion from the board would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to your responses. > > Hi Paul > > I really don't have any suggestions but did want to say welcome back home or as > my generation used to say "Welcome to the world".
