Gads, another great Don Camp story.  Thanks.  I've long since given up on getting reliable advice from the Powderkeg; your mileage may vary.  You make a point that many others have made here.  If you're heading to a lake you don't know about in B.C. take the time to get detailed information.  You could be saving yourself a nightmare.

Incidentally, Murphy Shewchuk's "Coquihalla Country," while not much for fishing information, is an excellent reference for road conditions and directions.  It includes many areas south of Merritt in detail and some north of there with less detail.

Subject: Merritt area

I haven't fished many of the lakes in the Merritt, B.C., area. The Kane Lakes are so pleasant and
the fishing so interesting that I haven't ventured far from them. There are
a couple, however.

One is Lodwick south of Merritt. My sons-in-law and I fished that lake
