And, it might not be the lake to which you are referring . . .

Subject: RE: Fishing Secret Lake
I forgot to mention the upshot of the increased popularity of
Vladimir's 'secret lake'. Right after it was nuked by WDFW two years
ago, it was successively dosed with triploids, brood stock, 10"
browns, and most recently, tiger trout.
Early in 2001, 20-plus fish days were commonplace, as was not seeing
another soul in full day on the water. I released the largest trout
I've ever caught there one lonely, windy May weekday after it showed
me my backing knot on three separate runs.
But experiences like that made it more and more popular. Sharing the
water soon gave way to ducking as someone's backcast as it whistled
past your head. Worse yet, three, two or even no fish days have
become the norm. Sean R. and I visited it last October and released
three fish between us in 3 or 4 hours of solid fishing.
Sure, it's got some lunker trout in it. But they're all smart now
and they barely pull once hooked. I've had little coastal cutts half
their size pull and tail walk as if their life depended on it. The
secret lake fish have gotten smart and dog it like they know we're
gonna let 'em go. And we're the ones who've educated them.
I'll take smaller, dumb trout and no crowds any day. Vladimir can
have my special spot in the little SW bay. The secret's still safe
with him.
