Yesterday (Tues) I decided to go over to Eastern WA to do a little fishing. I got a
late start, about 8:30 as I wasn't in any big hurry due to all the reports that I've
been reading about how slow it had been at some of the lakes. But I pressed on
anyway.

It was a beautiful morning, but as I got over the other side of the pass it started to
rain pretty heavy, but soon let up around Easton or so. I stopped into Cle Elum for
gas at the Safeway store, and BTW, that's the cheapest gas there is to be had anywhere
around. It's $1.75 and 3 cents a gallon less if you have a Safeway club card.

Anyway, when I got to the lake the weather was beautiful, the wind was minimal. It
was at a perfect "chronomid chop." As I started in I noticed there were only a couple
of other guys there, (the advantage of going during the middle of the week) and as I
started going to the spot I wanted to go to I decided to just throw out my "bug under
bobber" ahead of me so it would have time to sink down and fish for awhile as I passed
by. After about the third cast I hit a really nice fish, really bright, about 18-19"
When I finally arrived at the spot I wanted to fish in, the fishing started to pick
right up. I had one big bow measured at 22". He made three really strong runs before
he gave it up.

All in all, for about 4 1/2 hours of fishing I got about 16 fish all strong the
smallest of which was 17" all the rest were about 18" to 20"

Ah! Spring has arrived!
