Ryan,

Good to hear that you actually grabbed one.  Or, more accurately, one grabbed you.  I have tried hooking a Tiger Muskie, but no luck.  We tried in the early fall or the end of summer as you sugggested.  Didn't see any fish, and no action on our flies.  (We used some big pike flies.  Why not?)  We, too, heard that it might be better later in the year, hence our choice of times.  What seemed to be the case, however, was that the fish may be more apt to bite, but that they were biting big plugs that looked like they would put a big drag on 25 hp engine.  And they were fished deep.  Our feeling was that earlier in the year, the spring and maybe the early summer,  that the fish would be nearer the top and much more accesible to flyfishers.  We tried to get some information on flyfishing for these monsters from one of the WDFW guys, but when we finally were able to pin him down, the comments were basically "yeah, but not with a fly rod."  He didn't say anything about an old boot.  You guys might be the first to catch one on a fly.   We sure didn't.  Now I'm tempted to try again.  I would expect that what you experienced was ''Hot Fishing."  When we were  down  there, one of the gear fishermen commented to us that he had a pretty good day fishing.  He got a follow!

Paul
