Richard,
Should I bring a lunch vs what's available there?

Some of you may not be aware of it, but this Saturday the Washington State Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers ("WSCFFF") will host a fly casting expo, held at Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club (hope I got that name correct!) in Port Orchard, WA.

I have participated in this event the last 2 years, and it's a lot of fun.  There is a competition component to it, which of course requires entry and registration, but it is also open to the general public.  The entrance fee is $10 per person.  Great stuff is raffled at the end of the night.  For example, in the raffle last year I won a certificate for 2 people to round golf at Trophy Lake and a half day fishing in their lakes (which have steelhead and Kamloops trout up to 15 pounds - seriously!).

There are casting clinics going on throughout the day, and various fun casting events.  Mel Krieger, who many consider the dean and leading guru on fly casting instruction, will be the featured instructor/speaker.  This is a huge coup, as this is pretty much a local/state event, and Mel is an internationally recognized person in this activity and field.

Some of purposes of this event, I believe, is to promote fly fishing good will and to get some folks who share a common bond out together to learn something; however, the primary purpose is as fund raiser.  I understand the funds raised are applied to the WSCFFF youth education and environmental programs, so the dinero goes towards some GREAT activities.

There is some great fishing over near Port Orchard, with some fine saltwater fishing nearby, especially this time of year.  So, you can attend the casting expo and saltwater fish; multi-tasking, what a concept.

Anyway, hope to see you there!
