David... I took a look at the Cutt-Bait and you are right, the "nothing new" comes really close with the exception of the rear tie-down of the rabbit strip and the bead eyes.  Thanks for the reference, will being tying up the Cutt-Bait to compare the two

The pattern of chartreuse rabbit fur on a hook sounds like one of my favorite SRC flies cutt-bait.  My first experience with this fly was a guy gave me one after he fished it at Lion's Field in Bremerton.  About 6 months later I found the pattern on www.flyanglersonline.com .  I have always wondered if the guy that gave it to me was the same one that wrote the article for FAOL.  The article was based out of Port Orchard.  Connecting the "wing" at two spot sounds like a matuka style fly.  I agree with you that there probably aren't any "new" flies but boy are there jillions of variations.  Recently a major flytying magazine had an article on a "new" style fly.  Basically it was a nymph with it's own strike indicator.  Boy were they embarrassed when they received numerous letters from Catskill (NY) fisherman who claimed this style was over 50 years old.  Needless to say the tiers and the editor of the magazine probably had over 100 years aggregate tying experience but had never seen this style.  Things that make you go hmmm.
