I have a Garmin GPS 3+ that I bought on eBay from a fellow who couldn't figure it out. That made the price right. The advantage of a unit such as the GPS 3+ is that the antenna can be removed and you can connect an external magnetic antenna that you can put on the roof of your vehicle for better reception. It also allows you to connect to the cigarette lighter for power to save the batteries, that same cable usually has the connector to hook up to a computer. It sits nicely on a boat seat where it can be observed while you are returning to a secret spot with precision. I was rowing on a lake in Canada and getting no strikes (while trolling) so I started watching my speed. When I got to 2.2 MPH the fish started to strike. It can be set to display in metric if the fish are really picky. :-) You can buy additional maps to load in but so far I've found the map that comes with it to be good enough to keep me from getting lost. It doesn't have the road through Williams Lake, BC drawn quite right but most of it is as good as the satellites will let you get. -Bob
