I spent the day at the Sandy River Spey Clave and had a great time. Many speakers and demostrations on the water.

For folks in the Vancouver/Portland area it is still going on tomorrow. No charge other than the $4 fee for Oxbow Park. It is put on by The Fly Fishing Shop at Welches and they provide lunch...chille. Probably about 400 attendees. Tomorrows agenda and directions to Oxbow are available at

I got to cast a Temple Forks 14', 9 wt. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to cast it on water just on grass and I can't really tell too much on grass. Not sure why the Temple Forks rep didn't make it available on the river. I guess that my impression of it was that it was ok. At 9.5 oz it seemed pretty light which was good and had kind of a medium action. It doesn't seem to be a cannon. At $299, IMO it isn't a fantastic deal. If I was in the market for a 14 footer, I would consider it along with some other rods.

BTW, I do have a financial connection with The Fly Fishing Shop....I leave an inordinate amount of my retirement check in their cash register.
