I E-mailed this list last spring after I had shot a couple gobblers to see if anyone wanted to trade feathers for flies. There was considerable interest, but people wanted feathers from a variety of birds. Now that some of the seasons have opened I'm accumulating skins of several species. I have 8 Hungarian partridge skins, and a pheasant and quail skin plus I still have a bunch of turkey feathers. Duck season and the eastern Washington regular pheasant season will open soon so I will have opportunities to collect more material if anyone is interested. Skinning birds and preserving them is a hassle when you are tired after a long hunt, but I feel guilty discarding so many feathers others could use.
