"What had been tried was a multiple approach - the Methow planted with hatchery fish so that surplus fish could be harvested, the Entiat not planted, and the Wenatchee planted with unmarked hatchery fish. The plan was to see which approach was more successful in moving towards recovery. Without marked fish in the Wenatchee it is hard to mount a fishery - any would have to be CnR only. My best guess is that marked fish will be planted and any fishery would be selective - that is fishing would be allowed until the "surplus" hatchery fish were removed. However that might be a good area for you or other interested anglers to supply input in the development of the state steelhead harvest management plan - that should be out for comment in a year or so."
Pretty cool huh?

Preston and Matt,
Thanks for your response. I'll exercise patience and wait for the Feds to reopen the Wenatchee and tributaries. If and when that happens, I hope there will be stringent regulations put in place for all species, ( i.e. single barbless hooks, catch and release, maybe even a fly fishing only section etc.) Look at what those regulations have done for the mid and upper Yakima.
