Here are a couple more ideas for patterns from "Flyfishing for Pacific Salmone" (Ferguson, Johnson & Trotter - 1985) Pink Feed Hook: English Bait Hook (Tiemco 205BL or Mustad 37160) sizes 6 - 10 Thread: White Tail: Pale pink hackle wisps Body: Pale pink "Shrimp" Ligas dubbing Veining: Florescent red-orange thread, one strand forward over the back and tied down at front; 2nd strand used as ribbing Rib: Fine-diameter clear mono, tied as an "over-rib" on the vein ribbing thread Hackle: Pale pink wrapped at head and clipped off on top Feelers: Pale pink hackle wisps I substitute some materials in lieu of the originator's custom dyed hackle and polypro yarn. If you want the formula for the dye bath and instructions as to application, check out page 73 in the book. Flashabou Euphausid Hook: Size 4 - 10 saltwater, regular shank Thread: White or black Tail, Body, & Throat - Pearl flashabou tied in a bunch, leaving a short tail, then wrapped forward to form the body. Tie of the ends at the head to form a throat (Originator, Gary Strodtz - Page 74 of the book)
