I had a decent size fish hit my large red foam indicator as it started to skate in shallow water today on the cedar.  I stripped it and it hit again, stripped, hit again, all the way in its mouth (felt the fish) and stripped again for another strike… thing was acting like a dolly!!  Hehe… after that fluke tied on a big red stimi and NOTHIN.  I had a few fish on nymphs though – nice way to end a day of work.

Cheers

Jim

Subject: Cedar River report

I hit the Cedar late morning/early afternoon before visiting my new granddaughter today, fishing some new water up around Maple Valley instead of in the S. Renton area.   I did OK for a few hours of fishing on new water.  I spent most of the time nymphing with a big dual-bead stonefly and a #18 PT dropper behind it.   I got 5 trout and 1 mondo whitefish on the dropper.  Three of the trout were pretty decent ones in the 13-14” range and strong fighters.  Just as I was getting ready to leave I saw a fish rise at the end of a run I was nymphing so I tied on a #18 parachute Adams and managed to catch two more fish off the back-end of the big rock there, these were my first dry fly fish on the Cedar this year.
