Fioshing in Europe

I want to thank all who responded to the question about traveling in Europe with expensive rod/reels. I thought that it would be no different than here and you all confirmed that.  I do have another question as I have never fished in Europe, what is the best way to get information or do research before leaving? I know very little about the ponds, lakes & stream in Europe and I understand that in the UK and a few other countries most waters are probably private? I have started doing some research on the internet but not with much luck so far.   Thanks, Ray
