Title: Cedar trip
I worked with my 10-year old on his fly fishing this weekend....just casting and casting without a fly.  He had used his fly gear trolling behind a boat in several lakes with success, but had never fly fished a river.  We then went to the Cedar on Sunday for his first real fly fishing experience.  I wasn’t expecting anything since we were fishing at 11:00 and the sun was high and bright and the water low and clear.

We got down to the Cedar near Maple Valley and found a nice little spot.  I helped him with his first cast since we were pitted against a high bank.  Anyway, out goes the fly and out jumps a 9” Cuttbow, attacking his Caddis fly.  He lands the fish and has the biggest grin on his face.  First cast with a fly and a fish landed.  Not bad.  I was a proud papa.  We fished for about an hour and a half and we caught about 4 more small trout 4-7”.  Very fun experience and a great memory.
