I had to use the version of Marine Writer before 3.7.2 as I am
running OS 10.2.8.
The translation lost the format. Surprisingly AppleWorks 5 retains the format.
One day I will have to upgrade my system.
Anyone using Open Office?

Mariner Write would seem to do most of what I want.
Have you used it? Which version?
Merv
I bought a combo package some time ago as an alternative to Word &
Excel ( Mariner Calc )
Mariner write seems to be easier to use than Word , my version is 3.7.2
amd it will export to and import Word docs OK that I tried.
but Calc was a bit of a disappointment
as it did not provide all the limited functions that I use in Excel .

I seem to be receiving more Word documents from PC users than in
the past. AppleWorks seems to lose the format of the document
when used to translate. Office 98 copes quite well but I'm
trying to wean myself from using Classic.
A look at the comments from iWorks users does not give iWorks a
clean bill of health either in this area.
If any members are using Open Office, how do you find the quality
of translation from a Word document?
Comments about any of these applications appreciated.
