I have a minor glitch with Office98/OS9.1 which has just surfaced for no apparent reason. When I double click an Excel worksheet file to open it, Excel loads then comes up with a Visual Basic error message "Unable to load DLL". If you click the message it goes leaving a new blank worksheet open. From the File menu, the required existing worksheet then opens perfectly. Alternatively, if I go direct to Excel and open it first, it loads with no error message and I can then open my worksheet. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this means and how I fix it, short of reinstalling Office98. The worksheet in question is quite inoccuous with nothing fancy, in fact it is my daily temperature and rainfall record with only sum and average functions and simple formatting used. Severin Crisp
Have you run a virus checker recently? It could be you've contracted some form of Visual basic virus. Alternatively I've seen Excel sometimes (most annoyingly) just do that. You could try moving Excel preference files out of the preferences folder, but that is (IIRC) not always successful.
