Hi Muggers, I can't find a solution to something with my modem that is increasingly annoying me, and costing money...
My internal modem on a G3 Powerbook (running OS8.6, Open Transport 2.0.3 and Remote Access 3.1.3) only connects to my ISP (Q-Net) without a hitch, about 50% of the time. The other 50% is divided between getting a 'could not connect' error (after the normal sound sequence of a modem attempting to make a connection and not getting past ppp usually), and getting a weird almost 1950s Sci Fi sound effects sequence (bit like a theremon(?!) instead of the normal sounds, followed by the non-connection notification.... Typically, I try to connect 2-3 times before achieving success. I think the line itself is ok as I have a Windows machine that connects hassle free almost every time. Any ideas as to how this prob can be solved? Cheers, Greg
