Now I have seen some conflicting info on what the drives actually are

in the tech specs it says that the drive is either

One of the following optical drives:
- 32x-speed (maximum) CD-ROM drive

- Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW); reads DVDs at 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at
12x speed, writes CD-RW discs at 8x speed, reads CDs at 32x speed

I think the plain CD is available as an option if you were purchasing a lab of them. Some schools might only want one or two machines with a burner in them.

It looks like the airport card is inserted above the CD drive, which is bizarre. I suspect it would take the enterprising student mere seconds to make off with one. And the serial number and ethernet ID are written on the inside of the drive bay door, which I'm sure is likely to get ripped off at some stage!

Have fun,
