Hmm, Google: icc profile invalid photoshop <http://astro.umsystem.edu/apml/ARCHIVES/APR00/msg00598.html> Trashing the preferences, which were called "Adobe Photoshop 5 Paths" (weird name), didn't work. So I tried trashing all the profiles in the ColorSync Profile folder. That fixed it and the file is now readable. It recreated a single generic profile.
