Aside from the software mentioned in the MacWorld article mentioned
below, there are some freeware programs that will do the job.
Coaster is good for recording to hard drive, and I use a free program
called sonicworx basic for simple editing (e.g. track clipping etc).
Try versiontracker for latest versions of these (don't know if either
is built for OSX, but you could still run classic mode for sound
recording...).
I don't tend to bother with cleanup of LP pops and crackles - usually
I'm recording from a pretty good source and, I'm not looking for such
a clean sound that I want to buy raygun or whatever.
Also, I don't know if Coaster will recieve input via iMic - this is a
question I'll have to deal with soon with my newish laptop which
lacks sound in. Does anyone have an answer to this?

which had an entire article dedicated to this topic. It included
suggested software both commercial and shareware and heaps of other
useful information.

I would like to record some of my LP records on to CD using my
PowerMacG4 and OSX. I have purchased a iMic and it seems to be installed
OK but I can't find any information as to how to record to the hard disk
so I can then record on to a CD. I have Roxio Toast 5.
I am a recent convert to the Mac after many years doing battle with PCs
so my present Mac skills are limited.
