Over a period of several years I have noticed that there are several -
some would say "more and more" - organisations who think that supporting
end-users is covered by only supporting Microsoft software. Some
organisations go as far as actively excluding anything that is not
Microsoft.

As a group of users WAMUG has enough members to actually contact
organisations who refuse to support anything that is not Microsoft.

It is my opinion that there would be great benefit in organizing
ourselves by identifying those institutions who refuse outright or
support poorly anything that is not Microsoft.

As individuals we can each then approach the "offender" and as a group
we could send a clear message. I suspect that if we asked Apple to
support us, we'd have even more impact. There are other user-groups who
we may wish to invite to join in this effort.

You'll note that I don't specifically say Macintosh anywhere here,
because the problem is more widespread than that. There are many more
options available beyond Microsoft, and Macintosh is only one of those.
If institutions stayed with the open standards the rest of us use, more
people would be able to use computers - which in my opinion is what it's
all about.

What do you think of this?
