A friend of mine has a fairly large boat which he takes to Rotnest on fairly regular basis. He has a television and VCR on this boat and this is where the problems are starting.
The TV is producing a very audible buzz or hum when it's turned on. The sound is coming from the speakers because the hum gets louder when you turn up the volume. The problem happens even when a tape is being played so the problem is not the reception. The problem also doesn't occur when the TV is plugged into a land line, so it's not the TV.
The only thing that is left if the power inverter. I am not sure what sort of power the inverter puts out (sine/square wave).
Typically what sort of power do televisions require and can I get some sort of filter to get rid of the noise?
