This feature, as useful as it is, does not seem to be consistent. For example, in Macromedia Studio MX, Freehand, Fireworks and Flash have the check box but Dreramweaver doesn't, yet all work fine in MacOS 9. Many other instances of similar anomalies abound. I would also love to know the answer as well.
I believe it depends on whether the App is Carbon or Classic, and how it's compiled.
