Hi, I didn't see the start of this thread, so it may not be entirely relevant. The main reason for my delay in adopting OSX was the lack of OSX native driver software for my scanner. A friend pointed me to VueScan (www.hamrick.com). It is a fantastic shareware app which seems to talk to just about any scanner and gives great results with the default settings, although is highly configurable if you like to tweak! I have compared the scans from the native UMAX drivers to the results from VueScan, and I wouldn't go back now even if UMAX did come to the party!
