Remove any spaces or apostrophe's in the computer's name in the
Sharing preferences pane, and see if that changes anything.

lost its IP address and will not obtain a new one until I
restart it.
I believe it was on MacInTouch that the following remedy appeared,
although just now I can't locate the original. Open System
Preferences, select Network, and the TCP/IP tab. Here is the key:
in the "DHCP Client ID (Optional)" box, type any word -- it doesn't
matter -- and click "Apply Now". The Mac will negotiate with
whatever (I'm not net savvy) and in a few seconds will display a
new IP Address. You should be back in business.
If the problem recurs (i.e. another sleep), repeat the process, but
enter a different word in the "DHCP Client ID" box.

Or try setting up a different location in the network preferences and
then switching location after sleep.
