It seems these days so many updates are repeated on our 10 or so
machines here in the office (both Mac OS 9 / X and Windoze boxes.)
Our cable connection is shared via a 7500/150 running OS 9 / IPNetRouter.
Can anyone recommend a decent Proxy Server App?
I figure as this machine (and it's drive) aren't the fastest I'll
just use it for doing updates (so whenever I do a Software Update /
Windows Update I'll just enter the proxy details.)

I'm not sure if it'll work, as these days updates employ more
security which may prevent them being cached by proxies, but I'd be
interested to hear if it does. You can use some form of Windows SUS
update server to cache local updates

Akamai have a server on WAIX, so theoretically Mac OS machines should
pick up updates from there (whether they do or not is another
matter), and depending on your ISP, WAIX traffic should be free
(although as you're on cable, probably not :( )
Of course this doesn't help you if you're behind a slow link (but
you're on cable :), but you could always download the update to the
desktop and then put it on the LAN for the other machines.
