My Ti Book G4/400, 512Mb ram, 30 gb h/disk, running OS X 10.2.6 is
crashing with an ever increasing frequency. I can't get it to boot.
I do have a full back up
The following are the series of recent events:-
1. Stops during Start up - at time No Whirling chocolate wheel, at
other times the wheel freezes
2. Adding a firewire cable or changing a usb accessory (hot swapping) freezes.
3. Restarts don't always restart - the screen stays blank with a
slight whirring noise in the background.
4. Disk warrior (OS9) did not seem to improve the situation
5. Freezing during-
MS Word & Excel 2001
Safari (Beta 2 V74)
IE 5.2
6. Several items in Trash refuse to be removed
These problems occur with and without the following connections:-
Powercord (oval shape original) attached / and straight battery only
Ethernet 100
Firewire to external /drive (mostly turned off)
USB - Apple external keyboard + optical mouse
USB - Palm desktop charger
Recent Software additions:-
Appleworks 6.2.7 (installed yet to be used)
Eudora 5.2 (paid)
Safari Beta 2 V74
iTunes 4
OSX 10.2.6
It still has 12 months Apple Care Warranty. Can someone advise the
best Local Perth approved service centre that can handle Powerbooks?
Cheers
Mike
