I have often written notes in a file ( get info) dialogue box when
using OS 8.6,
which include version number, web address if it has one, or what I
did with the file ie issued to client etc
are these readable when OS X , from I can gather they disappear.
And if not anyone got any suggestions on how to recover that
information when in OSX
The comments field in the Finder's Get Info window in OS X should
contain the same notes as under OS 9 (I have not verified this as I
don't have any files I can definitely say I downloaded under OS 9)
note this also occurs when downloading a file
for instance I downloaded safari when in OS 8.6 and got the
http://a1408.g.akamai.net/7/1408/1388/20030623/akamai.info.apple.com/Safari/SBML/061-0606.20030623.Xsd54R/Safari.dmg
in the comments box
but don't get this if download whilst in OsX . or is it located
somewhere unseen?
This URL is put into the comments field by the browser you use to
dowload the file. I think IE used to do it under Mac OS 9, but it no
longer seems to do so under OS X. Safari doesn't either. You could
perhaps request the feature of Apple.
Have fun,
Shay
