I don't know how I missed this one (probably because I didn't have an imperative need fore it?) but there is a program that came out a couple of weeks ago that allows an OSX machine to mount NTFS volumes... very handy under certain circumstances, like been given an errant NTFS disk to try and recover files from and your desktop computer is a mac.

After some short term testing (couple of hours) it seems stable enough though no speed demon.

probably best to have the NTFS disk in an external USB or Firewire drive case and switched off at system startup then power them up at or after the login screen. It seems that when an NTFS disk is powered on at or before start up Mac OS X will stall at the "mounting local drives" stage.

next stage OS X disk tools for NTFS disks? (or is this available already too?) ;)
