Microsoft updates???

Eudora was full of messages supposedly from Microsoft this 
morning.....36 in all, most with .exe files attached.   There are 
also a number of messages about undelivered emails (not from me) to 
various addresses in the US.

Is this the result of a virus somewhere?   I cannot recall 
registering a Microsoft product anytime in the past.
