Hi Alll,
Over the last 3 days not only have I recieved the
virus masked as a Microsoft Update about 30 times now
but I have also recieved a large number of supposedly
returned email messages to email addresses (sent from
me) that I have never heard of. They started coming as
the same time that the virus emails did. Mainly
[EMAIL PROTECTED] addresses but some others too
and the only text in the email (apart from the short
return message) is "Hi". I remember someone else on
the list saying something about strange returned
messages, am I the only one and is this something I
should be concerned about?
How can I be getting returned email from someone I've
never sent anything to?
Because the antiquated e-mail system allows anyone to forge the
'From:' address of an e-mail message. Viruses take great delight in
forging the 'From:' address using random people's e-mail addresses
harvested from Outlook address books, web pages, etc. When these
forged e-mails bounce, they're returned to the 'From:' address, much
to the confusion of whoever receives their mail at that address.
By the way, what is the plural of virus? When I
Googled I found 3 different answers, Viuses, Virii and
Virus (saying it had no plural).
I believe the commonly used expression is 'Windows' :)
Have fun,
Shay
