Hi everyone
Two points;
1. I have recently bought a second hand G3 (Wallstreet) Powerbook for my
mother-in-law to replace her 3400C. Battery icon, in top menu has the red
cross through it, and of course no lightning bolt. Power is feeding the
machine okay.
The guy I bought it off said that the battery was charging okay, though this
is the first time that I have unplugged the power cable, with the inevitable
message 'No reserve battery power remains...'
Given the age of it it's probably the battery is dead.

Is there something I am missing? is there an activation switch or similar?
should I trash prefs, if any? is there a control panel that governs the
battery operation?
Or is it, as I suspect that the battery has probably snuffed it? if so, does
anyone have one for sale? (G3/266/128/ID 312/OS 9.2.2)
2. Often when I am using Photoshop 7, and eject a CD from my (G4/400/448/OS
9.2.2), I get the message 'Cannot eject CD as it has items that are in use'
or similar. Usually when I copy a file to the HD, or simply open from the
CD. What governs this? is it due to how the CD was created? Why is there a
link to the application itself, I don't understand this glitch. I have to
quit Photoshop, eject, then open the App again. Really annoying.
Well, if you open the file on the CD, then that would explain it. If
it happens when you copy the file to the hard drive and open that
then you might want to check Photoshop's preferences and make sure it
hasn't decided to use the CD as a scratch drive or something.
