I'm about to get a new G5 as well as move to a new house giving me
the chance to set up a dedicated studio for my work.
The one thing I lack is a nice monitor.
Currently I use an Apple MS 15av which has served me well albeit
being a tad small. Its focus is also failing.
It sits on a 4 port Dr Bott MoniSwitch USB KVM which I use to cycle
between my Lombard laptop (primary work machine), a PC (for darkside
work) and a couple of server machines.
The laptop means I have a dual monitor setup. I'd like to either have
a dual monitor setup on my G5 or just have a wide screen style flat
panel.
It seems that flat panels these days are quite suitable for graphic
design work (I used to be a dedicated CRT user) and are a lot easier
on the eyes.
I know Apple's monitors are beautiful - but they're not cheap and the
fact they use ADC doesn't impress me much. DVI -> VGA monitor is easy
but not quite so with ADC -> VGA if I go down that path.
* Are there any comparable flat panel wide screen monitors by other
brands people can recommend?
* Are there any way / hacks / tricks using the myriad of other brands
of dual head VGA cards under OS 10.3 if I am forced to keep my crappy
fifteens?
I suppose another option is to just set the G5 up with a single flat
panel (ADC or DVI) and use a 15 on the switch box for everything else.
