Hi,

I'm trying to get a 120 Gig FireWire HD working on my 8600 and
not doing too badly so far - well it's working but other devices
that were being recognized aren't any more.

My system:
8600/Sonnet G3 450 1Gig mem. OS 9.1

USB 2.0 & IEEE 1394 Combo Card / 120 Gig FireWire (400) HD in a 3.5"
external enclosure.

CarbonLib 1.6
Mac OS Z-9.1, FireWire Support V 2.7, FireWire Enabler V 2.7

FWB > Oxford Semi Bridge RBC, FWB FireWire Support Lib V 4.5.2

The OS couldn't handle it - system froze when copying a few files to the
FireWire HD after initializing - so I've used the FWB FireWire Loader, at
first I tried selecting 'Just Driverless Devices' which didn't work so I
tentatively selected 'Takeover All Devices' hoping it would just take over
Firewire devices but it seems to have taken over all my scsi devices as
well. One my 5 HDs (2 external) now has to be mounted from within FWB before
it'll show itself and my tape backup drive is no longer recognized by
Retrospect which I thought provided the driver for it but FWB seems to be
blocking it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as to how I can get Retrospect to
recognize my tape drive and to get that HD to mount along with all the rest
- although that's not such a big deal it could be a bonus to have a hidden
HD or now I have the large FireWire drive I could just remove it and take
some strain off the power supply.

TIA
Brian
