I agree with all points on this one. Although I haven't seen too many other
Apple stores outside WA I have seen a couple in NZ when I last went home.
One of them was packed with everything you could think of and want for you
Mac, the other,..well there was the bare minimum and that was it.
So I think it is sometimes a good idea to have a good range and good
product. You sometimes want something then and there. (The downside to this
is not being able to get products from the supplier - Griffin are really
good for this! And yes sorry to say, sometimes even Apple. But even
non-computer companies do the same. I know someone who ordered an electrical
product that had a demo one on shelf, but none shipping to late January!!)

Then I can also call it from the flipside. I sometimes think you can get
stuck by holding a lot of stock, ie you purchase something and then in a
week the price drops by $200 or something and you make a loss, so you can't
always offer the best price.

Although I don't keep a lot of stock (bar the things I get asked a lot for)
I can normally source things pretty quickly, sometimes same day, if not next
day! So generally my clients or customers who query stock don't mind waiting
a day or so to get things. But I also understand that sometimes you need
things "today" so I am more than happy to point people to somewhere they can
get it straight away. The upside to this is that when I purchase things I'm
getting them at the "current" price, current version or current line, and
anything else I'm being honest and saying if they need it now I can't help,
but can suggest somewhere to get it from. This is the "overall experience"
as I see it. It all paints to the big picture.

>From the Cannington store point of view (from when I worked with Rod) I can
say we did sort of have our hands tied on that one. It made it very hard. It
got quite a bit better towards the end, but perhaps a little of "too little
too late", as we found out,...when we lost our jobs. I can tell you it was
frustrating from our point of view as well. But yes Keith I can understand
where you're coming from. Sometimes you need to be able to purchase
something there and then. (I am still waiting for a replacement bluetooth
headset that was faulty and I'm now up to week 6 and I've seen 4 clients get
them before mine,..so even as I "reseller" I don't get special privilege!)
:o)

But overall I think we do it pretty good in WA. And as Rod pointed out the
stores are pretty good and if the odd time they don't fill the bill there
are other avenues to try. Most of the time I've always been able to source
products for customers and clients and they haven't even had to leave the
house! :o)

I could go on,..but I think I've added my 2 cents worth and you probably get
my points ;o)

Sorry for that rant,...and the bandwidth. :o) 12.45am does that. :o)

Enjoy! Thanks Rod. I look forward to the pics. ;O)

Kind Regards
