Looking for a multi voltage power adaptor to power my Powerbook and other
misc things like phone charger.
Wa!
not enough information....
Are you are after, perhaps, a bench top laboratory /workshop power
supply then try a commercial electronics supplier like "RS" (Radio
Spares) but Altronics should be able to get these... they have them
in their catalogue.
else...
so....
multi voltage in?
or
multi voltage out?
or
multi voltage in and out?
multi voltage in.....
remember if you have a late PowerPC or G3 G4 PowerBook your PowerBook
power supply IS multi voltage in - 110 to 250 Vs look on the sticker
on it. you can buy foreign power supply leads/plugs at just about any
duty free shop
most "wall wart" power supplies do exactly the same thing (110 to 250)
Have tried Dick Smith & Altronics to no avail.
Altronics ???
did you ask them ... they have almost always been able to order
stuff in if it "ever was and still is" made - everything (at least
consumer/audio electronic accessory wise*) that I've ever wanted and
put money down - sure sometime it's taken months :(
* they never got that giant attack panda I always wanted <damn them>
Anyone know a good reasonable place to buy such things?
Also, is the Powerbook voltage switching like other Macs so that I only need
a different plug on the end?
?? powerbook different from.... what? another powerbook?
yes & no
Try http://www.devdepot.com/ in fact today they have a special on
PowerBook supplies - they only take about 2 (usually) to 3 weeks to
ship to Perth. but I have gotten stuff from them quicker.
YES as in you can buy from them an adaptor to run G4's from late
PowerPC and G3 PowerBooks power supplies so you can run a G4 from 3
pin + ring power supplies such as the "The BIG brick"(powerBook 1400
etc.), "the Brick" (USB/SCSI G3 powerbook) or the "yo-yo/flying
saucer (USB/Firewire G3)"

NO as even older PowerBook (PowerPC PowerBooks) power supplies are
not 4 pin and probably don't put out enough amps to charge properly
and (obviously) aren't switching for dual state supply
No matter what non apple/designed-for-apple transformer unit you get
you will be pushed to get the apple Powerbook (G3/G4) plugs anywhere
but salvaged off of old apple power supplies.
