Hi All,

A number of months ago I wrote to the list about an issue I was having with DHCP relinquishing its DHCP lease when my iBook goes to sleep. Someone on this list (I can't remember who and I am too lazy to look...you know who you are) said that any good DHCP client would do the same and that I should live with it. However something that didn't occur to me until today (only noticed due to problems with the DHCP server) is that if the client relinquishes the lease and the server goes down that all connectivity goes out the window until the server comes back up. Most clients keep a list of all unexpired leases and will pick one if the DHCP server is unavailable...why doesn't mac do this?? I think this is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard!

Adam.
