Hi all,

Woke up this morning and it looks like there was a power cut over night - all computers are turned off (all were surge protected)

My Quicksilver g4, however, is not happy - I press the power button and it lights for 2 secs but nothing else happens. I figure this is a power supply problem? Does this sound right or could it be worse?

The machine is still under Applecare but I'd appreciate any opinions and/or guesses before trapsing up to nedlands

cheers,

Looks like you have the same problem that Stewart Woods had:

You could try reset the CUDA chip on the logic board. Remove the battery and power cord, wait for 10-15 minutes and then press the little black button (should be close to where the battery was). That hopefully will solve you problem.

That button is the CUDA reset kind of like a master PRAM reset

The Cuda is a microcontroller chip on the Power Macintosh G4 (PCI Graphics) logic board. Whenever you have a Power Macintosh G4 (PCI Graphics) computer that fails to power up, you should follow this procedure before replacing any modules. This article explains how to reset the Cuda chip on the Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics).
