Hi all

I have seen a number of recent problems regarding Roxio Toast, here is another slant. I have come across a very annoying problem. I am running a G5/1.6/768RAM/Panther. I purchased an external CDR Flex/Sarotech CD writer from Tim at Artref. It came with Toast Lite 5.1. Upon installing the CD for the app and restarting, the device said 'No CD Recorder found, plus with a blank CD in the drawer 'You cannot continue this action as the device is not supported'. I took the package back to Tim and he tried it on his Panther iMac, same problem, no Roxio Toast. Okay, so Tim very kindly downloaded the Toast Lite (not Titanium) updater for me and burnt it to a CD and I went home happy. Now when I insert his CD into the G5's drive I get 'Item "Roxio Toast Lite 5.2 Update" is used by Mac OSX and cannot be opened' Dead end.

So I downloaded the update of Lite from Roxio myself. Unstuffing, the System says no need to update? fine. Checking the external writer I see 'Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D', or 'Atapi CD-RW52XMAX - Firewire', is visible at the bottom of the Toast panel, so it recognizes the burner now. I insert a blank CD (TDK Gold) into the Sarotech and get this; 'The disk could not be used because the disk drive is not supported. (Error code 0x80020025). What on Earth? Cables are fine, internal writer works fine, no crashes, no hiccups, smooth running otherwise as would be expected.

Can anyone shed any lite on this please?
Thanks
Jon
