Hi, I've encountered the following problem and would appreciate any comments. I am yet to reboot the machine, so I haven't attempted any disk repairs yet:
When copying a file in the Finder, the Finder says "The item '...' contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed." The file is a "regular file", not a directory, link, alias or device node. If I say "continue", it prompts me for an admin password. Then, the file's icon appears in its destination but disappears in the blink of an eye. If I try moving the file, the Finder says "Some of the items you are moving are in use by another application." If I copy to a remote AFP machine, the remote file is created (zero-size) but no bytes are copied across. The size of each original file is in the order of a handful of megabytes. To overcome the problem, I use the Terminal to 'cp' the file to its new location. I also note: - Get Info shows no anomalies - fstat shows no processes - POSIX permissions are correct The problem seems to be in Carbon, not in the BSD system (well, BSD doesn't impose the same file locking as Mac OS anyway). All files are in directories that contains no other files with any problems.
