Repeat after me:
"SCSI is *not* a hot-swappable standard."

Agreed ! But who said I was hot swapping ! ??????

I have a SCSI scanner which gets infrequent use
which I would like to leave Powered down until it's needed..............
Leaving power off extends the globe life .......

All I need to do is " Mount " it on the SCSI bus after
I turn the power on !!!!!!!! ?????/

Rebooting is a long process to do that !

So how is Holwell in Tasmania ?

Bob

You should power off your computer, plug-in the device, power it back
up. If you really want to hot-swap SCSI, put it in a Fire-Wire case, or
buy hot-swap bays.
