Photoshop - importing from scanner

Can any photographers help with a problem I have.  I wish to import images
from my scanner a canon 9900F into Photoshop 7. If I press File-Import the
scanner is not shown.  I also have Photoshop Elements loaded but when I do
the same there it shows "cano scan" as it should.  I have tried downloading
the latest driver from Canon and re-loading Photoshop without success. Any
suggestions?
