It probably hasn't. Internet e-mail has many analogies with postal mail. With postal mail: I can write a letter to someone, put "Yours sincerely, Ronda Brown" at the bottom, and mail it. Same thing with e-mail. It's fraudulent, but possible nevertheless. With postal mail, it would be pretty obvious that I hadn't used your signature to sign the letter. However, hardly anyone signs their e-mail (it's a crypotgraphic process). So...the fact that your address is being "used" doesn't actually mean your accout has been compromised -- it just means someone is claiming your own address as the 'sender' of their e-mail. It is very common for Internet worms (some of which are now associated with spam) to do this. I know I personally receive lots and lots of these "mail delivery failed" messages, and have done for years.
