ascending or descending order of files

Hi, a friend who is using OS 9.2 has a problem with the file listing on 
his machine. This is not a global problem with all folders, just the 
one he uses the most. It happened a few days ago, and is persisting. 
When he opens the file, instead of listing from A - Z, it lists from Z 
- A, which he finds quite frustrating. I had a look under help, etc., 
but could only remember having the same problem myself at one stage, 
and not ever finding a solution. does anyone know what to do? Cheers,
