I have Itunes v2.0.2 running on my Ti G4 Powerbook running OS9.1 and one of the original 5GB ipods. Yes, you can upload playlists, songs, albums etc to the ipod. You can either have it set to update automatically everytime you connect or do it manually. For auto you can synch your entire itunes library or create/pick a specific ipod playlist to synch to. For backups you have to enable the iPod to be used as a hard disk - then the iPod's disk icon appears on the desktop. In this mode you must remember to unmount the iPod before disconnecting it.
